Congratulations goes out to the King's Speech. I wanted Inception to win best picture but I will take the King's Speech over the Social Network. Don't get me wrong I loved The Social Network but it wasn't that great; The Fighter was better in my opinion but no movie made me think more than Inception. I couldn't stop thinking about it for weeks, in fact I still analyze it and wonder if it was real or a dream. Anyways this blogging will be about the red carpet fashion best dressed (I will save the after party fashion for another post). There were really no standouts for me this year. Everyone really played it safe and that being said there were not really any disasters out there either. But E! please do all your viewers a favor and do not let Ryan Seacrest interview on the red carpet anymore; he's just not very good. Okay enough ranting and onto my picks for best dressed.
1. Gwyenth Paltrow in custom Calvin Klein

My best dressed in Gwyneth Paltrow. She looked amazing in this dress which looked like a sequined waterfall. Not to sound cliche bit she really shined. I like the slit in the bust and the Louis Vuitton brooch on her hip which matched the earrings. Her straight sleek hair style was perfect with the dress and her golden smoky eye with a hint of black liner is great. Her body looks fantastic in the dress as well. Oh and her makeup was done by a Chanel makeup artist.
2. Cate Blanchett in Givenchy

As soon as I saw Cate in this dress my jaw dropped. The beading and the pleats wowed me. Givenchy always designs the most amazing dresses and this is one of them. Cate made this dress look elegant; she wore the dress, the dress didn't wear her which happens a lot. I adore the back of the dress aswell and how the green/yellow beads continue along the back. Her hair was nice and simple and her makeup flawless.
3. Jennifer Lawrence in Calvin Klein

Damn girl is the first thing that pops into my head when I see Jennifer in this dress. Nice and simple but she looks drop dead gorgeous. I adore the shade and the cut. It's sexy but not over the top. For a 20 year old girl who's nominated for best actress I think she knocked it out of the park. I also think the smoky eye and wavy hair are great. I also like the gold clutch. Another thing that I like is that she kept the accessories simple.
4. Michelle Williams in Chanel

Michelle was another best actress nominee tonight and she looks stunning in this Chanel number. I am not usually a fan of the pixie cut but she makes it work because she has the most beautiful delicate features. Her makeup is spot on tonight and although you might not be able to see it in the picture her bottom lower lash line is lined with blue liner. Her pale pink lip is a nice contrast to her dress. Now the dress is divine but it's Chanel no you cannot really expect anything less. The thing I love most about Michelle Williams is that she brought along long time friend Busy Phillips as her date.
5. Amy Adams in L'Wren Scott

Amy is always one of my best dressed and she was also a nominee as well tonight (wow the nominees are really knocking it out of the park). I love blue and I love sparkles. The slip up the back gives it a little bit of sexiness without being to revealing. This reminds me and a dress Amy's friend Emily Blunt wore to the Oscar's a few years earlier. I would have preferred this without the green necklace since the neckline of the gown is such a high cut. No necklace would have been better. The Veronica Lake waves look magnificent on her and when her long layers were swept behind her it looked like she had a sleek bob. Her makeup is always perfect and here she doesn't disappoint.
So those are my picks for best dressed. I don't really have any for worst dressed but if I think of any I will be sure to add them to the after party post. Okay I am going to leave this post here for now because class starts in 20 mins and I need to find where it is and then walk there. So until my next post................
